This past Saturday, the PDMS team took on The Children’s Centre’s annual Race the Sun relay, competing in the event for the seventh time.
The Children’s Centre is an independent Manx charity which develops, manages and innovates a variety of community initiatives and services that focus on people that matter. Their vision is to put children, young people and families first and make the Isle of Man a safe and progressive community.
The team completed the 10 (wo)man relay around the entire coastal footpath (Raad ny Foillan) – clocking in nearly 100 miles! This involves beaches, cliff-top paths, steep climbs, and equally steep descents, and is largely off-road.
We were pleased to complete it in just under 15 and a half hours, beating the sun, and beating our previous own time estimates, coming 20th overall, out of 26 teams. Well done to the team who are already looking forward to next year’s event!
A big “well done” to Alistair Elliot, Lewis Veale, Rob Blenkinsop, Nick Watterson, Lorna Trevethan, Catriona Watt, Kerry Kelly, Steve Callaghan, Jan Gledhill and especially Georgia Vernon, who battled through a nasty fall to bring the team home ahead of the sun.
