After another active year, we wanted to reflect, here at PDMS, on some of the events we’ve supported for our local communities and charities in the Isle of Man and the UK!

Brushing away the cobwebs and sorting out for spring, PDMS encouraged the whole office to donate unwanted clothes and household items to Hospice Shops IOM.  Our staff delved deep into their wardrobes and Hospice left our Isle of Man office with a truck load of bags! With every £20 worth of sales in the charity shops covering 1hrs care in the hospice, every item counts to supporting the continued running of a valuable service.

Earlier in the year PDMS fielded a team in The Children’s Centre’s annual ‘Race the Sun’ relay which was the sixth time we’ve competed in the event. For the race, teams of ten runners relay a 98 mile stretch of the Island’s beautiful coast. It starts at sunrise and ends before sun set. Everyone had a brilliant time and were able to experience the beauty that the Isle of Man has to offer (we were lucky to have beautiful weather too!).

In July, we were proud to sponsor the Green station at the IOM Hospice Colour Me Rainbow event, helping to add a little colour to the promenade! We also sent 3 runners, Hannah, Kiera and Carla into the firing line who got covered head to toe during the paint parade. The service the Hospice provides is a very important one on the Island - providing care and compassion in a time of need.

We enjoy holding regular social events that brings together the PDMS family, ranging from the adventurous - jumping off cliff sides and hanging from trees, to having a meal out with our feet firmly on the ground. This year, we held our summer social event in July at the Laxey Glen Gardens & Pavilion part of The Children’s Centre. We invited everyone at PDMS to bring along their partners and families for an afternoon of games and good food in the sun. As well as offering a fantastic venue and grounds for the event, operating as a social enterprise, all proceeds from event hire went to supporting the great work of The Children’s Centre.

At the end of September, PDMS held a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning as part of Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event of the year. Always looking for an excuse to eat cake, we enjoyed raising money for the cause and had some great fun baking some wonderful treats. In 2016, Macmillan raised an amazing £29.5 Million that will go towards helping those who are facing cancer.

Throughout the year we have been sponsoring the MSPCA in many ways. The charity is dedicated to the welfare of all animals on the island and does not get government funding so relies on generous donations and sponsorship.  Many of the PDMS team are passionate about the environment and support conservation and protection of wildlife on the Isle of Man. We were delighted to provide donations that would make a difference, from treats and toys to laptops and a new tablet so that we can help MSPCA go digital in their new cafe. We also held a ‘Paws for Thought’ bake sale where Jake, a previously abandoned puppy, visited us with his owner, Kerry, to say thank you.

In the UK, we sponsored the Garscube Harriers running club, who regularly organise cross-country and road running events based in the north-west of Glasgow. PDMS has been a  proud  supporter of the club since 2015. In 2016 we designed and hosted a website to help the club continue to run and promote its activities, and this year we're pleased to further support the Garscube Harriers by supplying equipment. We designed and donated a gazebo to shelter spectators during cross-country events, and for those who won’t fit into the gazebo, 18 umbrellas were also donated!

At PDMS, we’re looking forward to the year ahead and continuing to work with causes and charities close to our staff’s hearts.
