Chris Gledhill joins TechUK Panel Discussion with Scottish Government

Event Happening on 02 February 2023

Our CEO Chris Gledhill joined techUK for an exciting roundtable discussion on: ’How is Scotland’s tech ecosystem supporting economic growth and productivity’.

Results in techUK’s Local Digital Capital Index 2022 revealed that future economic growth could be held back because of the ‘stark regional divides’ in the UK’s technology sector, and it indicated that, although some Scottish regions scored well in the Index, they were not consistent across Scotland.

TechUK introduced this session to consider how the tech sector can continue to thrive and grow in Scotland. Key topics were how the challenges facing the tech sector are being met and how the success of the sector can be built on to improve innovation, create new job opportunities, deliver growth and improve services.

This event was part of an exciting series of panel discussions, the first being hosted by KPMG on 2nd February, with Scottish Government and other stakeholders invited. David Gimson, Director, Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare Consulting – Scotland also took part in the discussion.

An SME tech panel looked at the opportunities and challenges for tech firms in Scotland and how SMEs in Scotland are helping to grow the economy, innovate and create new jobs.  Also attending the event was Chief Entrepreneur to the Scottish Government, and former COO at SkyScanner, Mark Logan, for a ‘fireside chat’.
