PDMS client wins e-Government National Awards

The NHS Online pharmacy catalogue, developed by PDMS, was named as a winner at the prestigious e-Government National Awards which took place in London on 22nd January 2008.

The winners and finalists in the e-Government National Awards 2007 are this year's "best of the best" in UK e-Government. Prime Minister the Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP praised the nominees, saying: "I commend you all for your initiative, your drive and your commitment to providing the public with the very best." The awards are the UK's highest level commendation for the best e-Government and technology-driven services- services which, through innovative online delivery or IT implementation, have positively transformed the lives of citizens, local communities, business and stakeholder groups. The NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency's Online pharmacy catalogue project won the category for Central e-Government excellence: Procuring excellent IT-enabled solutions for better public services against some stiff competition.

Staff in busy pharmacy departments in NHS Trusts and HM Prisons, throughout England are now saving time and achieving better value for money with the national on-line pharmacy catalogue. Launched in April last year, the new on-line catalogue holds data on over 20,000 pharmaceutical products, 300 contracts from 174 suppliers with a total value of £747 million. The on-line catalogue is administered by the NHS PASA and replaced an old catalogue, distributed monthly on CD-Rom. The on-line system incorporates many new features to enable hospital pharmacy staff to work more efficiently, make more informed purchasing decisions and potentially save the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Continued success reached more of PDMS' clients at the awards including:

  • Isle of Man Government's Online Services Programme (OneMann) was nominated in the 'Central e-Government Excellence for Team Working'
