PDMS Client wins at e-Government National Awards
On-line Pharmacy Catalogue project wins "Central e-Government Excellence" category.
The on-line Pharmacy Catalogue, developed by PDMS for the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (NHS PASA), was shortlisted for the eGovernment National Awards 2007.
The Awards are independent and highlight the UK's most effective services which improve citizen and business transaction with councils, central government departments and other public sector organisations. This year, saw a record breaking number of entries with 527 nominations in total. The on-line pharmacy catalogue, developed using PDMS Foundations, is one of six projects to be short listed in the procurement category - "procuring excellent IT-enabled solutions for better public services".
Staff in busy pharmacy departments in NHS Trusts and HM Prisons, throughout England are now saving time and achieving better value for money with the national on-line pharmacy catalogue. Launched in April last year, the new on-line catalogue holds data on over 20,000 pharmaceutical products, 300 contracts from 174 suppliers with a total value of £747 million. The on-line catalogue is administered by the NHS PASA and replaced an old catalogue, distributed monthly on CD-Rom. The on-line system incorporates many new features to enable hospital pharmacy staff to work more efficiently, make more informed purchasing decisions and potentially save the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The winners were announced and presented with their e-Government National Awards on 22nd January 2008 at a black-tie dinner at the Dorchester Hotel.
