Giles graduated from Manchester University in 1986 with a degree in Biology. Further study led to a post graduate diploma in Chinese before he went to work as an analyst programmer for Fastnet systems a London software house. After 2 years as an analyst/programmer he joined Price Waterhouse's management consultancy group as an IT specialist. His work there covered a range of roles from project management to systems implementation for a range of blue chip clients.
In 1992 he moved to Rome to work for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) as a developer on FAO's main business systems.
Giles joined PDMS in 1994 as a shareholder and initially worked with the software development team in range of development and project management roles. His interest and expertise in data management and the design and application of database technologies has been developed by extensive database work on a number of large projects including the Isle of Man Government Income Tax Management Information system and Manx Airlines route accounting systems.
For the last 10 years Giles' role has been based in the UK, initially working with some of our larger clients such as Black & Decker, Centrica and NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency; helping them develop and implement strategic plans for their long term IT requirements. In 2007 PDMS launched PDMS UK and opened their UK office in central London. Giles took over as UK Managing Director and oversaw recruitment and development of the team in London as well as his wider account management and business development duties. Giles also worked closely on a key acquisition which has resulted in the growth of our operations in Glasgow. Giles is currently working closely with some of our long term strategic ferry clients and is also developing relationships and partnerships in the wider transport sector.
