Find opportunities to build knowledge and experience

PDMS regularly supports local Isle of Man schools by providing work experience placements for their students.  It gives them the opportunity to experience the world of work before they decide what their next steps are, and it may be the first chance they have been given to find out about work outside of school.

Such placements help students to learn about different occupations, develop personal skills such as confidence, communication and independence and push them to think about what kind of career path they may wish to choose. It's also an opportunity for us as employers to gain perspectives from younger people and develop our mentoring skills.

This summer, one of our work placement students was Oscar.  He spent a week in our Marketing Department and undertook a variety of projects such as marketing research, creative writing and gaining telephone skills.

If you have a vacancy for student work placements, remember that you can upload them for free to our platform, the Isle of Man's careers portal www.employed.im.
