This past weekend PDMS fielded a team in The Children's Centre's annual Race the Sun relay, competing in the event for the sixth time.
The Children's Centre is an independent Manx charity which develops, manages and pioneers a variety of community initiatives and services aimed at enabling children, young people, and families to realise their full potential. Its vision is to put children, young people and families first, and by doing so make the Isle of Man one of the best environments in the world to be born, raised and live.
For the race, teams of ten run in relay 98 miles around the Island's coast, starting at exactly sunrise and attempting to finish before sun set. Not only does it give runners the opportunity to try out new routes and experience the Island's stunning coastline, but there is tremendous comradery within the team and even between competitors!
We were pleased to come 17th overall out of 30, but delighted that we exceeded many of our estimate times as well as the overall team time for the past three years.
Well done team - can't wait for next year!
