Pools4All launch with PDMS eGaming Platform![]() First Ever True Football Pools Game Site Development Time Cut By Three-Quarters With Innovative Framework Isle of Man, BRITISH ISLES, 09 October 2008 – The first ever true online football pools game, Pools4all.com, is being launched today thanks to an accelerated project development by PDMS, an award-winning software company that solves real world problems for online gaming companies. Pools4all.com is a new concept based on forecasting the scores of matches in separate pools of approximately 10 matches for all the English and Scottish leagues and divisions. The intention is that this will encourage supporters of lower division clubs to take an interest in this new format. The company also has plans to extend the game to include European games from Germany, France, Holland, Italy and Spain, as well as special pools as occasion demands. The site was designed by PDMS, a firm which prides itself on applying sound software engineering principles to produce sensible, cost-effective solutions. They developed Pools4all.com using Foundations, the company's own software development framework based on Microsoft .NET. With Foundations, 60 per cent of software code is standardised, so PDMS was able to drastically reduce development time and costs for Pools4all.com compared to building the site from scratch. Managing Director Chris Gledhill explained, “Football pools is a completely new online concept; it's never been done before. Without Foundations it could have take up to a year to build this site. We were able to do it just in three months.” Pools4All Managing Director Tony Poskitt said, “PDMS gave us the perfect blend of 'buy and build'. They delivered a customised, high-performance gaming site to meet our specific needs, and did it faster, cheaper and better than some of the bespoke or off-the-shelf solutions we'd considered.” The idea for Pools4all.com was actually born in the Kazakhstan oilfields. Tony Poskitt and his two colleagues David Plumpton and Niels Cook found the work there was hard, and the evenings were long and boring. One diversion the trio enjoyed was playing the pools, a betting game based on predicting the outcome of football matches and they tracked everything on a spreadsheet. Before long, they had about a hundred players around the world taking part, and the first iteration of Pools4all.com had been created. Then they decided to take the next step in developing the concept into a viable business by visiting the Isle of Man, a self-governing Crown dependency located in the Irish Sea whose government is committed to developing a competitive online gambling industry with a progressive tax policy and flexible licensing practices. There they teamed up PDMS and turned their dream game into reality to be enjoyed by football fans everywhere. |
