Ballakermeen High School Team wins Junior Achievement Award

The PDMS trophy for Junior Achievement Isle of Man Company of the Year was awarded to “Element” at a gala dinner on Thursday 30th April.

The company, one of three teams from Ballakermeen, impressed the judges with their Teacher Top Trumps product; a new take on the classic card game featuring Ballakermeen High School teachers rated in five categories shoe size, style, fun factor, strictness and ‘cool’ factor. Chris Gledhill, a Junior Achievement Isle of Man Director, was on the judging panel and was impressed by the quality of the company presentations. The “Element” team will be travelling to Rotterdam in July to take part in the Junior Achievement Young Enterprise European finals.

The Junior Achievement company programme helps to teach business skills to young people in secondary education. The students set up and run their own business during the course of an academic year gaining a valuable insight into the business world and team work.
