UK Launch of National Police FAQ Project

www.askthepolice.co.ukPNLD FAQ Launch

Home Office Minister Hazel Blears MP recently launched the new national Police Frequently Asked Questions website and database to the police and public at the City Inn, Westminster, London.

The new FAQ database and website has been set up by the Police National Legal Database team to provide answers to commonly asked police related questions. It is being used by both the Police call handlers and the general public who can access the site at www.askthe.police.co.uk. PDMS have worked closely with PNLD to develop the system which has been implemented using PDMS’ own Foundations TM technology platform.

In 2002 the Home Office Minister John Denham stated that the Police had to improve the way that they dealt with the public. Over 70% of calls made to the Police were non-urgent and the service received by the public varied from Force to Force. PNLD already supply one central database to all forty-three Forces through the Police National Legal Database system, also recently re-developed by PDMS, and consequently, have the necessary expertise and experience to successfully manage the FAQ database.

At the launch event, Hazel Blears commented “I am so delighted to launch the new Police Frequently Asked Questions Database and Website. This will be a tool for anyone with internet access to easily find answers to questions that could profoundly affect their personal lives, the lives of their families and of their community. It forms another link between police officers, police staff and the public they serve”
