Electronic Catalogues Our first project for the NHS PASA was the delivery of electronic catalogues containing information on thousands of NHS contracts used by hundreds of people in NHS Trusts and hospitals around the country. The CD’s distributed on a monthly basis included information on a wide range of contracts and over 130,000 products - providing product information for ease of ordering everything from bandages to fruit juice. The NHS Purchasing Contracts CD-ROM/ Web Catalogue was commended in the UK Government Computing Innovation Awards within 'The best project for improving the way the public services operate' category. read the case study On-line Pharmacy Catalogue Most recently we have developed a new on-line pharmacy catalogue that holds data on over 20,000 pharmaceutical products including information on suppliers, contracts, prices, terms and contract start and end dates. The on-line catalogue replaces the CD versions which were previously distributed on a monthly basis which were also produced by PDMS. By replacing the CD’s with a new web based system, NHS PASA will not only make significant savings on production and distribution costs but also be able to update the catalogue more quickly and more frequently. read the case study Car Leasing Portal PDMS have also developed a website for the car leasing contract, which enables NHS employees to search for cars, and see a direct comparison between all nine suppliers on a single result page. It is thought that 90-95% of NHS contract cars are obtained using the website as the pricing tool for part or all of the process. Previously, users had to visit the websites of each of the suppliers in turn to find the best price, but often they just stuck with a preferred supplier, and missed out on the cheapest deals. Contract Information System The NHS Contract Information System (NCIS) was developed by PDMS on behalf of NHS PASA to enable NHS Trusts and NHS Collaborative procurement organisations to share information on the contracts they have undertaken. NCIS provides it’s users with a pool of contract information and contracts entered onto the system can be local or national and range in value. The system, hosted by PDMS, is currently being used by trusts in the NHS who can compare contract rates, monitor expenditure and review contract histories.
